Hi lovely followers! It’s Sunday evening and a lot is coming up this week…
I put in my 2 weeks (the week of Christmas) at my current job and this past Friday was my last day. It was a bittersweet day since my current job is the one that gave me a chance when I was new to Washington and looking for work. They’ve been so good to over the last 15 months but over the last couple of months, I wasn’t completely happy going to work every day. It wasn’t fulfilling any of my personal or professional needs and that’s when I decided I needed to do something about it.
I thought back to the time I was happiest in my work and that was senior year of college when I was a group leader for The Boys & Girls Club. Being a part of those 1st graders’ days and making a difference in their lives is something I’ve always appreciated. I realized my heart was in that line of work. To be philosophical, I wanted to make a positive difference in the world. My happiness was directing me towards kids or senior citizens, since I love both. I decided that teaching was where I needed to be and I started applying for preschool teaching jobs. Fast forward a month later and I was offered an assistant preschool teaching job on Mercer Island — I start tomorrow! I don’t know what to expect and I’m a little nervous about the small commute I’ll have, but I’m so looking forward to spending my days with 3 and 4 year olds.
Soooo sad the Chiefs lost yesterday and the Seahawks lost today. But I’m excited about the yummy and easy meal plan coming up for this week! Beck has tomorrow off, for the holiday, and he gets to go skiing. Lucky, boy.
